What is AS9100, and does my company need it?
AS9100 is the quality management standard used across the aerospace industry. If you want to supply parts or services to aerospace manufacturers — or keep contracts you already have — most customers will require AS9100 certification, or at least a quality system aligned to it. If you sell into other industries, ISO 9001 may be the better fit; we help you determine which standard your customers actually require before you invest in either.
Does 4KQA certify companies?
No — and that's an important distinction. Certification is issued by accredited certification bodies (registrars) after an independent audit. No consultant can guarantee certification — anyone who promises it should raise a red flag.
How long does it take to get ready for AS9100 or ISO 9001 certification?
It depends on where you're starting from. A company with documented processes and engaged leadership can be audit-ready in a few months; a company starting from scratch typically needs longer. The first step is a gap assessment — a structured review of your current operations against the standard — which gives you a realistic timeline and a prioritized work plan instead of a guess.
Can 4KQA run our internal audits?
Yes. Standards like AS9100 and ISO 9001 require internal audits, but they don't require that your own staff perform them. Many of our clients outsource internal audits to us — it keeps the audits objective, frees up their team, and brings an auditor's eye that has reviewed many quality systems, not just one. We also train in-house teams that prefer to run their own.
